On March 5, 2012, the Golden Concrete plant was destroyed by an overnight fire.  Fortunately no-one was hurt, but our concrete batch plant, shop facilities, and several trucks were totally lost.  For most companies, an event like this could be the end of the business, but we saw it as a challenge to overcome.

One day after the fire, we mobilized a portable concrete plant from our sister company Chetwynd Redimix to Golden.  The portable was operational on March 15 , and we were back in production delivering top-quality concrete to the Donald Bridge project on March 17, just 12 days after the loss.  We kept the portable in operation through May of 2012 to service our customers while we installed a permanent replacement batch plant.

Our new batch plant went into service in mid May 2012.  The plant is a Con-e-Co Lo-Pro 327 plant controlled by a Command Alkon computerized batching control system, and this state-of-the-art equipment gives us superior functionality and control.  We also had to install all-new plant support systems including hot water facilities for winter concrete production, a backup generator for production in events of electrical power loss, and maintenance shop facilities for servicing our fleet.

By December 5 (just 9 months after the fire) we finished enclosing the plant and construction on the shop and office building.  We now have the best of the best ready to help you with your project.
